The deck department has the overall responsibility for the operation of the ship. Under the direct command of the captain supported by subordinate officers who have varying work shifts, the vessel is navigated from the bridge.
H i everybody..I haven't written on this blog in a long time, I really miss it. N ow we get to know more another functions on board the cruise ship. Dance Instructor Usually a part of the Cruise Staff and may have other duties in addition to teaching dance classes. Often hired in pairs, dance instructors are generally well versed in all types of dance from ballroom to disco. May also be apart of the entertainment staff and may perform during the cruise. Dealer (Croupier) An employee of the casino who operates the various casino games (Black Jack, Roulette, etc). Deck Steward (Pool Attendant, Life Guard) Assigns deck chairs (on cruise ships where reservation for such are necessary) and serves cocktails and other beverages to passengers on deck. On some ships, the Deck Steward may double as Pool Attendant/Life Guard. Disc Jockey Plays records in the discotheque and/or organizes the music programs through the ship's sound system.
